Beijocas.testecarlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02265287790133905481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-839474213338661274.post-90758646007285071602008-10-08T10:22:00.000-03:002008-10-08T10:22:00.000-03:00Dear Christiane,I was able to understand about 80%...Dear Christiane,

I was able to understand about 80% of the very interesting material written here, but I don't know enough about Portuguese grammar to even attempt writing a reply in anything but English. My apologies!

I think developing an appreciation for the culture in which a language is embedded is a critically important component of learning that language. Accordingly, I found the post on Festas Juninas to be fascinating!

I liked the color scheme of the blog, and I was particularly engaged by the colorful graphic that you chose to introduce the post. In addition, I was impressed by the fact that the post was international, since it focused on an article by a Nigerian and continued with your own additional comments. Incidentally, I was, at first, somewhat puzzled as to why a Nigerian had written the article. Then I remembered, vaguely, how important Portugal had been in the "Europeanization" of West Africa, and a quick read of two or three articles on the history of Nigeria made it clear that Portuguese culture and the Portuguese language are an integral component of Nigeria's history and heritage.

I think it would be a wonderful contribution to knowledge in general and, more specifically, to online resources available for the learning of Portuguese by foreigners if you continued to post about typical Brazilian/Portuguese culture items—in Portuguese, of course! I, for one, would love to read them!

Best wishes in your endeavors!

Dennis in PhoenixDennishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14406878238507555896noreply@blogger.com
